Interventional Cardiology Devices

Interventional cardiology is a subspecialty of cardiology in general. Interventional cardiologists are cardiovascular disease specialists who have completed one to two years of education and training in the use of catheters, which are thin, flexible tubes used to perform cardiovascular procedures. These procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting, are carried out by guiding tools through the arteries of the body. These minimally invasive interventional procedures are an appropriate alternative to open surgery for many patients.

The global Interventional Cardiology Devices is estimated to account for US$ 27,745.6 Mn in terms of value in 2020 and is expected to reach US$ 45,754.1 Mn by the end of 2027.

Interventional cardiology devices are used to perform catheterization procedures. Angioplasty, stent placement, atrial septal defect closure, ventricular septal defect closure, and a variety of other cardiac interventions are among them. Catheterization A long thin tube is inserted into a blood vessel (artery) or body cavity during this procedure (heart). A catheter can be inserted through the skin or directly through a blood vessel's wall. When the catheter is inside the body, it is threaded along the path of least resistance until it reaches its destination. Angioplasty A balloon-tipped catheter is used in this procedure to open blocked arteries. The blocked area is opened up and stretched apart. The catheter is then removed from the artery, and a small mesh tube known as a stent is inserted to keep the artery open. Stent Implantation This is a procedure in which a catheter is used to insert a tiny mesh tube (stent) into a narrowed section of the coronary artery. This assists in keeping the artery open and preventing future blockages.

Closure of an Atrial Septal Defect: This is a procedure used to close an atrial septal defect. A hole between the two chambers of the heart is known as an atrial septal defect. This hole may not close properly in some cases, resulting in serious complications. This procedure seals the hole and prevents further issues. Ventricular Septal Defect Closures: This is a procedure that seals a hole in the heart's left and right sides. This procedure is used to treat Tetralogy of Fallout, a congenital condition in which the heart pumps inefficiently.
